A brief history of the Society of Holy Innocents

In June of 1985, Father Currie was living in an apartment complex in New Orleans. An eight year old friend and neighbor, Nicole Lapata, was kidnapped, raped, and murdered. Father Currie was devastated by this event and determined that her agony and death would not be wasted on the satanic lust of the two young men who did this terrible thing.

Two things happened: He began studying for the priesthood in the Anglican Church, and on December 28, the feast day of the Holy Innocents, (in honor of the children killed in King Herod's attempt to kill the Baby Jesus) he founded this prayer society. By using the U.S. Mail service, he sent out letters and prayer lists to all who would pray for the children each day. The mailing list grew to over 250 recipients, but when Fr. Currie went to seminary, the society mailings were put on hold due to lack of funds and time.

He was ordained a priest in the Anglican Church in America on December 19, 1992, five days before his sixty- sixth birthday. After serving as Rector of All Saints Anglican Church in San Antonio for 3 years, he has been forced to retire. Just after Easter of 1996, he almost died of bleeding ulcers. Now this ministry of the Society is to be continued by means of this web page. We invite your comments. Our E-Mail address is: HolyInnocents7@cs.com Thanks for your interest.    Fr. C.
