A Proposal for Anglican Unity

The Anglican Church in America, (ACA), is committed to the belief that the best hope for traditional Anglican unity is to be found within the structure of the worldwide Traditional Anglican Communion (TAC).

As presently the only American jurisdiction within the TAC, the ACA recognizes its obligation to encourage and assist the traditional Anglican jurisdictions within the United States to seek membership within the TAC.  To this end it is the policy of the ACA to offer its assistance to any interested American jurisdiction within the United States in becoming informed regarding the TAC, and in petitioning the TAC for membership in that Communion.

Further, The Presiding Bishop of the ACA offers and intends to remove himself from the consideration of any such petition, in order to assure any petitioning jurisdiction of consideration without potential bias.

Further, the ACA will suggest to the TAC that any American jurisdiction being received into the TAC be permitted to function as a parallel jurisdiction for up to ten (10) years and, after that period of time, on a basis to be determined by the non-American Bishops of the TAC, to be reorganized into a unified American Jurisdiction. This determination will be binding upon the parallel jurisdictions, including the ACA, at that time.
